What is Ayurveda? Is It Helpful for Treating Different Conditions?

One of the oldest ways of whole-body treatment method is Ayurveda. It exists more than from 3,000 years ago in India. Ayurveda is based on the belief that wellness of a body depends on the balance between the body, mind, and spirit. The main goal of Ayurveda is to provide good health. Treatments are focused on individual health problems, but it doesn’t fight disease.

In the United States of America, it is known as complementary and alternative medicine or CAM.

Your Life Energy and Ayurveda

In CAM therapy, it is a belief that everything is interconnected, alive or dead. When your spirit, body, and mind are in harmony with the universe, you are going to have good health. If the balance is disrupted, sickness attacks you. The things that disrupts the balance are emotions, age, seasonal and climatic changes, injuries and genetic or congenital disabilities.

It is believed in Ayurveda that every human being is made up of five basic elements, earth, water, fire, air, and space. Combination of these basic elements’ forms three forces of life or energies of life in a human body, known as doshas. The three dosas are Kapha dosha comes from water and earth, Pitta dosha comes from fire and water, and Vata dosha comes from space and air.

Every individual person has a unique mixture of the three doshas, but everyone has one stronger than others. They control different functions of the body. This is the reason, it is believed in Ayurveda, that you get sick or any issue of health developed when the balance of the doshas are disrupted.
